1. How would you describe your work?
I’m a Homemaker. My work consists of bringing my creative energy to everyday tasks that support the lives of my husband and children, and allow space for our family to experience fellowship and unity.

2. What are some ways that your work is a reflection of God?
I feel like whenever/however we’re being creative, we can reflect God. So if I use creative abilities to make a nutritious meal, that reflects the Lord. I also believe God is a God of order, so bringing order – even to things like laundry, or the pantry – can reflect God. There’s also bringing order to relationships and helping young children to get along with one another, and that reflects the unity of the triune God, and what the Lord desires for us.

3. How does your work provide insight into the brokenness of this world?
The world is fallen, and there are ‘thorns and thistles’ to all of our work. Dust collects, things break, people get sick or angry with one another, or just hungry again. That’s all part of the brokenness of this world.

4. Jesus commands us to “love our neighbors as ourselves”. How does your work function as an opportunity to love and serve others?
Motherhood and homemaking allows lots of opportunity to serve others. Our world doesn’t always acknowledge it, but the simple tasks of caring for other people’s daily needs is a great way to serve others. In any given day there are multiple opportunities to set aside my own ‘want to do’ list in order to meet the needs of my family: food, clean clothes, clean environment, warmth and personal attention.
